Here are some of our favourite places to help you recycle your stuff, whehet you are looking to recycle a specific item or looking for clever ideas to reuse what you have.
- Wood Recyclers Association
Represents the interests of the wood recycling sector to governments and to the environment agencies and other regulatory authorities in the UK.
- Junkk
Run by Peter Martin (recently described as a 21st century Womble!), Junkk.com is full of ideas for reusing items instead of throwing them away, plus entertaining articles on recycling topics.
- Freecycle
One of the worlds best know recycling communities, the Freecycle NetworkT is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns.
- Community Re>Paint
A network of paint reuse schemes across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
They collect leftover reusable paint from householders, and redistribute it to those who need paint but cannot afford it.
- Re~Cycle
Re-Cycle collect and ship second hand bicycles and parts to Africa. Local partners teach local people the skills of how to repair and maintain them, to improve their lives in a sustainable manner.
- Wastemart
Website where you can advertise items that you wish to dispose of, anything from household appliances to toys and bicycles.
- Green Metropolis
Sell your used books and GreenMetropolis.com donates 5p for every book sold to the 'Tree For All' campaign run by the Woodland Trust.
- Don'tDumpThat
UK-grown community reuse organisation with nearly 6000 members in 45 forums across the UK.
- My Skip
Load up your virtual skip with unwanted items or find a freebee from someone else.
- Freegle
Don't throw it away - give it away! You might not need that old sofa or wheelbarrow any more - but there might be someone just round the corner who does. Or if there's something you'd like, someone nearby might have one.
